The business water supply sector is filled with inconsistent pricing created by vast numbers of independent sales reps who can resell water supply services anyway they see fit. This can result in two identical businesses with identical water requirements paying vastly different amounts for their water supply. This makes it very difficult to know what a good deal looks like.
That is why we have launched Solus Unlimited, the first subscription based water & energy procurement service for small businesses. Subscribe to one of our Solus Unlimited plans and access base rates for your business water supply!
What is Base rate?
Base rate is the rate at which brokers, TPIs and water intermediary companies access and price water supply contracts via a Licensed Provider (LP). They add an uplift or commission to the base cost which can vary massively from one company to another. In the case of suppliers, a retail fee or margin is added. Solus Unlimited offers small business owners access to the base rate with no uplift meaning you access big savings on your water supply contract. Bare Bones pricing with 1st class service always!
How much does a Solus Water Subscription cost?
Solus Water Water Unlimited costs just £150 per annum. Add unlimited additional sites for just £80! And when you subscribe to Solus Water Unlimited for 12 months, you get 2 years entirely free of charge meaning even bigger water savings!
For businesses with high demand water supply requirements or any business with trade effluent waste, please contact us for a bespoke quote.

Water and waste charges procured on a tariff where we agree a discount off the wholesale default cost. This tariff offers significant savings against the standard tariff as well as the following benefits:
Wholesale Plus Tariff - fix your water retail costs
All water, waste and drainage is charged at wholesale rates plus a fixed monthly retail fee irrespective of how much water you use. Many water suppliers build their fee into a unit rate meaning that if your water usage goes up, so does your retail fee. Keep in control with easy to understand bills and excellent service.
Tariff: Wholesale Cost plus fixed Retail Fee from £100 per year (dependant on usage and meter size) To view the current Scottish Water Wholesale tariff, click here.

Charities and non‑profit organisations play a vital role in strengthening communities, supporting vulnerable people, and delivering services that benefit society as a whole. We believe access to essential utilities should never be a barrier to the work they do. That’s why we offer reduced water & energy supply rates for registered charities and non‑profit groups.
Every pound saved on operational costs is a pound that can be reinvested into frontline services. Lower water rates allow charities to focus their resources where they matter most—supporting people, delivering programmes, and creating positive change.
Charities contribute immeasurably to community wellbeing, from providing food and shelter to offering education, health support, and environmental protection. Reduced rates are our way of acknowledging that value and helping sustain it.
Water is a basic necessity. By offering reduced rates, we help ensure that organisations serving the public can access reliable, high‑quality water services without facing financial strain.
Lower rates are paired with guidance on water efficiency, helping charities reduce both costs and environmental impact. This supports long‑term sustainability across the third sector.
Registered charities, community interest companies, and non‑profit organisations that operate for public benefit may be eligible for reduced water supply rates. Our goal is to make essential services more affordable for the organisations that make a real difference every day.
Offering reduced water rates is part of our wider commitment to social responsibility. We believe that when essential service providers and community organisations work together, the whole community benefits. By easing financial pressures, we help charities stay focused on what they do best—supporting people, protecting the environment, and enriching local life. Get in touch today to find out more.
A Default Minus water contract is designed to give customers a fair, transparent, and predictable way to manage their water supply costs. Instead of paying the full default tariff set for the market, you receive a guaranteed discount that reduces your overall charges while keeping your service stable and reliable.
The default tariff is the standard price for water and wastewater services in the market. It’s regulated, publicly available, and designed to protect customers by ensuring prices remain fair and reasonable.
Under a Default Minus contract:
This means your costs automatically adjust if the default tariff changes, while your discount remains in place.
When you choose to procure your business water supply through our Solus Unlimited subscription platform, we apply the maximum discount against the default tariff. This can be anything up to 45% and in some cases, depending on the encumbent supplier, can be in excess of 50%
Because the default tariff is publicly set and regularly reviewed, customers can clearly see how their charges are calculated. The discount is applied openly, with no hidden fees or complex pricing structures.
The discount ensures you always pay less than the standard market rate. Whether tariffs rise or fall, your contract protects your savings by maintaining the agreed reduction.
If the default tariff changes due to regulatory updates or market conditions, your charges update automatically. You don’t need to renegotiate or worry about being left on an outdated rate.
Because the default tariff is regulated, it avoids the volatility sometimes seen in fully open‑market pricing. Customers benefit from a balance of stability and cost reduction.
We use this model because it provides a fair, consistent, and customer‑focused approach to pricing. It ensures you benefit from regulated protections while still receiving meaningful savings through your discount. It’s a simple, reliable way to keep your water costs under control.

At the Cooperative, we are always looking for ways to help our customers secure affordable & fit for purpose utility and business essential products and services. A big part of achieving this for our members is to provide fully transparent tariffs. This means no hidden costs or broker commissions and means you know exactly where your money is going. The Wholesale Plus tariff is a perfect fit for this ensuring you know exactly how much goes to the Wholesaler (e.g. Scottish Water) and how much goes to the supplier (often referred to as a retailer or Licensed Provider). It also allows us to fully fix the retail fee for the entire duration of your contract unlike other suppliers where the retail and wholesale fee is wrapped into a unit rate.
Wholesale Plus tariffs may not be suitable for all business types. Speak to your advisor to discuss in more detail.
